I love how easy the transaction went through. The retailer was very accommodating and my orders came just in time. I also love how Asian Vogue has such a wide variety of shoes at an affordable price. Definitely a store I'd keep on coming back to to satisfy my shoe fetishes ;-)

Mermaid Dreams

Taken more than a month ago, during my dance company's teambuilding. Probably one of my favorite candid shots to date. When I was a kid I remember wanting to become a mermaid, and when I saw those hot mermaids on the fourth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean I just wanted to become one again. (Un)fortunately for me I am a human being and having mermaid locks is probably the closest thing I could get to becoming one.

I love roomy bags and if you haven't already noticed, I seem to be lugging around this Marc Jacobs tote a lot since it's sack-like and can carry a whole lot of stuff. I also love the fact that it bursts out with color since it can easily accentuate my wardrobe full of neutrals and darks.

Clashing and Combining Designers, Inspirations and Colors

January 2011 – Visions of varying hues will inspire viewers as a wonderful presentation of colors and designs will emanate from each designer’s creation.

For the fourth challenge, the remaining MEGA Young Designers must come up with pieces inspired by the colors of 2012. To test their ability to work with each other, all ten designers will be grouped to form a color inspired collection. Each group must stick to one primary color for the entire collection.

The upcoming “Color Challenge” will bring out the uniqueness in the design of each designer as they work with the same primary color inspiration of their team.

Can the designers work it out harmoniously? Or will it be a disaster of shades?

A special color will be chosen to be the only accent, adding style to the pieces they will create. To gather their much needed inspiration for the collection, the designers will be sent to one of the busiest spots of Quezon City.

Still, another challenge awaits these designers. For this challenge, presentation will be an utmost and crucial requirement.

Which designer will show the pieces to appease the tone of judgment of the fashion council?

Spent the day in Makati with Michelle whom I finally got to hang out with after weeks! There were so much sales going on, too bad I didn't have money on me so I wasn't able to shop for anything at all :(

New Baby, Yay!

So yesterday my dad picked me up to accompany him to get his iPhone 4S from Smart. When we got there we found out that we couldn't get a unit til March. I made my dad lambing a little and told him that I wanted a new iPod Touch (since my old one is well, old. And it didn't have a camera!). Took awhile (more like a heavy seafood feast at Gumbo with him, my mom and grandma) before I got him to say yes, but he did! So lo and behold, my new baby which I've yet to name! Any suggestions?

Oh and I'm on Instagram! One of the main reasons I wanted a new iPod Touch was so I could get an Instagram, heee. Follow me? It's pixierixie ♥

Oh Canada

Relatives from Canada are in town so we all went out to lunch last Monday. Dad says I'm not one to bring to buffets since I don't eat much anyway, but I really do enjoy them!

We ended up rummaging through cheap thrills in Greenhills after the ultimate lunch. I finally broke my no shopping rule! New accessories, new phone charger (finally) and a really cute bb case :)

Funny how I ALWAYS get mistaken to be half white! Even my Canadian relatives thought I was! You, might you actually think the same?

Anyway, how's your year so far? Three days down and I've been sober, hihi.

Wow, can't believe Christmas day has actually already passed. It wasn't very festive for me, but it was simple and special. I miss my childhood Christmases :(

We had Noche Buena here at home, with my mom's side of the family.

Christmas lunch and dinner was spent with my dad's side of the family. Also, had the already traditional trip to Starbucks Rockwell after dinner. :)

Sorry about the lack of photos... stupid me forgot to bring the camera! -_- anyway, spot my brand new Longchamp Le Pliage bag! Thank you for the awesome gift, tita Bambi. :)

When I got back home, I continued on with another tradition: drinking alone in my room! I was joined by a couple of friends via Facebook and Oovoo later on which made me feel less lonely, heeee.

So excited for New Year's! Gotta start thinking about my resolutions now. :)

Split ends were appearing on my rebonded swept bangs so I decided to chop it off and sport full bangs again. It's been a while since I last did so, so I'm still trying to get used to it. Yay or nay? Well either way I can't undo it anymore so I guess I'm going to have to live with it for a while.

It's Christmas eve, wow! Yesternight I finally finished my Christmas shopping and ended up catching New Year's Eve in the theaters with some friends. Needless to say it was so tiring much thanks to the entire population of Manila doing their last minute Christmas shopping all at the same time! Being in extremely crowded places stresses me out, I just had to get my shopping over and done with so I could find a seat and just chill out til my friend's driver picks us up. I'm not really a gift giver so I'm feeling so proud of myself that I actually bought gifts to give out today! And I kind of broke my shopping for myself abstinence thing, but it's okay since the only thing I shopped for for myself today was a pair of Clubmaster ripoffs which were really cheap.

So excited for tonight's noche buena and exchanging of gifts! Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. I love the tingling sensation of the Christmas spirit. The vibe is so cheerful and it feels like ecstasy! It's Christmas and it's instant happiness all over the world. :)

It definitely is the most wonderful time of the year. :)

I'm so excited... just five more days til Christmas! It has always been my favorite time of year and I've fallen in love with the vibe the season gives. It's also the season of giving (and receiving, teehee)--so here goes my wishlist!

1. Ray-Ban aviators. (P11,990) Just because I think it's a must-have.
2. Blackberry charger (P500?) because I keep on destroying mine. I've had two already and they're both gone so I charge using the USB connector thingy. :(
3. Blackberry Bold in white. Or a Bold Touch, okay.
4. Benefit Brow Zing (P1,600) -- if you've noticed my eyebrows, you need not even ask.
5. Forever 21 gift certificates
6. Kate Spade gold wallet. Saw the price tag on this baby--yeah gotta find a job now.
7. MAC lipstick in Morange (P1,000) or any bright orange lipstick would do.
8. Topshop double handle bag and 9. Topshop doctor's bag because I love roomy and medium sized bags
10. Zara silk perfume. (P995) This smells really good and it's affordable!
11. MAC blush in Dollymix (P1,300+) looks scary in the pan but is actually pretty sheer when worn. A girl needs some pink blush in her life!
12. Nars blush in Orgasm (P1,300+) has always been in my wishlist but I've never actually gotten it. Maybe this time? :)

It has always been my dream to have a makeup kit full of MAC Cosmetics. Now I think I can say that my dream has come true! Ever since I lost my old makeup kit a month back, I've been rebuilding my makeup kit by purchasing stuff from MAC little by little. And when my tita asked me what I wanted from the US, I immediately said makeup from MAC. So thank you for the early Christmas presents, tita Claire and tito Glenn :)

Meet Philippine Fashion's Aspiring Top Designers!

As the challenges in MEGA’s Young Designers Competition 2012 begin, let’s take a look on each of the designers will battle for their mark in the industry.

Nikita Agatha boasts of being able to do anything from scratch. She picked up her flair for fashion from her grandmother and mom who loved dressing her up when she was little. She considers Sari Yap, editor in chief of MEGA Magazine, as the judge to please, urging Nikita to carefully think of her designs. She cites Alexander McQueen as her idol for his out of this world construction of outfits that women can wear.

Dino Bancoro recently started as a fashion designer sharing that the pieces he presented during the audition were his first ever creations. Through YDC, he hopes to learn more on pattern making and sewing since he has yet to formally study fashion design. He admits that he still needs polishing but is proud to say that he has the vision and creativity that would amaze people.

Hazel Cargado is a registered nurse. However, after graduating and passing the board, Hazel felt lost. Eventually, she decided to go back to what she really wanted. After finding a fashion design school in Manila, she quickly grabbed the opportunity to learn. Through YDC, she hopes to find her personal directions in design.

Mara Chua has a motto that anything and everything can be inspiring. He believes that to be successful, talent is not enough. He sharpened his technical skills in pattern making and learned sewing through a seamstress who made his clothes. He cites Rei Kawakubo and Bjork as inspirations that allowed him to expand his horizons and stretch his aesthetic.

Kirby Cruz wants to represent his feelings through his designs. His goal is to have an identity that makes his pieces unique. As a fresh fashion graduate, he feels the need for the right exposure and he believes YDC is the best venue for him. He loves the design of Hussein Chalayan and Alexander McQueen since Kirby is fascinated where these designers find their concepts and ideas.

Ched Dalogaog is a fashion instructor at one of the top fashion schools in Manila. He tells a story with his creations, incorporating pop culture and considering the modern women who will wear them. He believes his edge is his understanding of color, textures and fabrics that other designers take for granted. By joining YDC, he hopes to establish a brand that he can introduce to MEGA, hoping to also be acknowledged in the industry.

Corleen Duero specializes in constructing basics but still adding a touch of style. Hailing all the way from Surigao, Corleen is proud to represent the south and hopes to be a designer who can bridge fashion and design from Manila to Mindanao. He admires Issey Miyake, always remembering the quote of the designer, “These clothes are no wrappings, you can understand them the way you want, you can wear them the way you want.”

Oz Go’s designs dwell on futuristic and experimental looks. At a young age, he discovered his affinity for fashion when he became obsessed with drawing her mother’s wedding gown. He took a course in fashion design and eventually mounted a show during Philippine Fashion Week. Being the younger brother of singer Rachelle Ann Go, he is proud to mention that they still share the same room and creates outfits for her to wear.

Robin Gundran is the youngest member of this year’s competition. At 18 years old, he showed his creations and wowed the judges during the go-see. He received negative remarks from a lot of people who did not believe in his passion. However, he turned this into his motivation. He knows that with perseverance, he can show his detractors that he can get past them, and achieve fame and success.

Ann Lorio is an industrial engineer from Cavite who wanted to shift to fashion design. Despite her parents’ initial doubts on her dream, she travelled to Manila and worked to buy a sewing machine. After seeing her passion, her parents eventually showed support to her. With her background in engineering, Ann attacks a design starting with the structure. As a YDC contestant, she wants to learn and make her mark as a designer.

Cristian Mallabo believes that God has a purpose why he’s alive and in the competition. His mother attempted to abort him but he survived. For as long as he can remember, he’s had a passion for clothes. He was motivated when friends and family started to ask him to create party clothes for them. He wants to be known as a designer who can brave through any challenge and hopes to win in order to give back to his aunt and sisters.

Porfi Medina thinks of fashion more as a form of activism and advocacy. When he was in elementary, Porfi’s grandmother opened a dress shop. At that tender age, he would observe the fabrics and sewing, starting his dream to become a fashion designer. He views his craft as a form of expression, translating social issues and its relevance into ensembles. He wishes to convey a message on pressing issues in society with every design he makes.

Renan Pacson simply wants to make his family proud. He initially took up Hotel and Restaurant Management but eventually found his calling in fashion. He studied Clothing Technology and was lucky to have the support of his parents. Luckily, he was accepted not based on his audition pieces, but based on how he packaged himself. His biggest challenge is to find his signature aesthetic and intends to find this in YDC.

Ismael Palma tried his luck during the auditions for the first season of Gen M: YDC but did not make the cut. At that time, he still did not know how to sew so he took his failure as an opportunity to improve. He decided to learn more about sewing and developing his designs. He was accepted this year and shares that whatever the judges say, he will keep in mind and apply.

Erica Panlilio hopes to dress up Katy Perry because of her fun playful personality. She started looking up and imbibing the stylish attitude of her grandmother when she was young. During the go-see, she had a major setback because the judges thought that she had a styling problem. Still, she was chosen to be one of the finalists and she believes that through YDC, she can grow and become a top designer.

Ram Silva designs for a cause. He intends to help the dying weaving community in Panay and Iloilo. During the go-see, judges were surprised with his mix of native materials to create a modern look. He keeps in mind the advice of Sari Yap, EIC of MEGA magazine, that what other designers learn outside in six months to a year, they can experience and learn in YDC in two months.

Mary Ty is inspired by YDC alumna Furne One, hoping to be as successful as him. Mary has never joined a fashion competition because of her fear of rejection. She tried her luck by joining Philippine Fashion Week but did not succeed. Edwin Ao, another YDC alumna, urged her to join the upcoming YDC. Her quirky comments amused the judges and are sure to liven the intense challenges for the YDC hopefuls.

Geoffrey Zordilla has always wanted to study fashion design. Initially, he had to struggle with his parents’ disbelief. Still, he pursued his dreams and is currently a fashion design student. He is enthusiastic to experience YDC’s challenges and to learn how to mingle with fellow designers. Nature inspires him, feeling relaxed and comfortable in its serene environment.

A Decade of Fashion and Innovation

MEGA Magazine’s mission of bringing the best in Philippine fashion springs anew with the comeback of the biggest running fashion competition in the country: Generation MEGA Season 3: MEGA Young Designer’s Competition 2012.

“The MEGA YDC was conceived because MEGA wanted to contribute something to the industry. The best way to do that was to discover young designers and infuse new blood to the industry. That’s what we wanted to do then and that’s what we wanted to do now,” shares MEGA’s editor-in-chief Sari Yap. “What sets YDC apart is that we take the career of a designer end to end to heart. When we pick a designer, we make sure we follow through to make his/her career a good one”, adds Yap.

This year’s fashion council includes MEGA’s editor-in-chief Sari Yap, top designer Avel Bacudio and fashion model Raya Mananquil. MEGA’s fashion editor Angela Alarcon meanwhile serves as the resident mentor.

In its first episode, a colorful array of aspiring designers from all over the country took a chance and braved the spotlight. Some designers impressed while others had a bitter taste of reality. It was a tough challenge to get the approval of the fashion council but in the end, 18 finalists were chosen.

Before announcing the first challenge of the season, Ms. Amina Aranaz Alunan, creative director and co-founder of the School of Fashion and the Arts (SOFA), welcomed all the designers as SOFA will serve as the designers’ fashion headquarters.

The true characters of the designers will be revealed. The designers were tasked to create outfits that symbolize “Proud to Be Me”. But, an additional challenge lies ahead. They must be able to channel their past, look for an object or childhood memory, and use it as an inspiration for their design.

Going with the memorable November 2011 cover shoot of MEGA, the challengers were sent off to busy Tutuban to purchase their materials. It was a shock to the designers as they all knew that December is bad time to go to Divisoria. Still, some designers immediately knew what they wanted, some found the fabrics they needed, but some were at a lost. Afterwards, they were all sent back to SOFA to create their pieces.

Through the interviews and interactions with fellow designers, the characters of each contestant were exposed.

18 fashion hopefuls. 8 runway finalists. 1 ultimate winner. Who will be the last designer standing? This time around, the runway can be anywhere.

My phone's got a new look again, too. Spent all my earnings yesterday on my phone--to have my keypads finally fixed and to settle my bill. I'm so annoyed though, there's still something wrong with my account. They say I have this running balance which is so much higher than my credit limit, and even if I've already paid more than half of it, I still can't subscribe to social. It's very annoying. Settling a little more of it tomorrow since I've no time today. Earning again this afternoon then off to the LSDC-Contempo Christmas party I go. Time to start the festivities of the season! :)

Manila, Philippines – The MEGA Young Designers Competition has finally begun and the designers have finally been introduced.

The true characters of the designers will be exposed. The first challenge requires the aspiring designers to establish their mark in the competition by creating outfits that symbolizes the positive attitude of being proud of themselves. But, it doesn’t end there since an additional challenge lies ahead. They must be able to channel their past and use an unforgettable childhood memory that would reflect it in their design.

Spoiling Myself A Little

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in NC40 and MAC Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara

Finally, the perfect foundation. I swear to the heavens this has got to be the best foundation ever.

I've always used MAC's Zoom Lash mascara (and have had people asking me if my lashes were fake, lol. Proud to say that I have naturally long and curled lashes--I don't even have to use a lash curler on them!) but this particular one caught my eye when my friend purchased one in Malaysia. Initially she bought it because the packaging looked cute, but she told me it was the best so I gave it a try! And yes, my lashes couldn't be any happier! I love how this particular mascara has two wands in it. The pink wand for day (or if you just want it light) and the glitter wand for night (for a more dramatic effect) :) (I tried taking photos of the wands to show you guys but I kinda failed so I guess you just have to take my word for it. Don't worry, you can trust me!)

Love&Beauty mascara and liquid eyeliner. I don't really dig the mascara that much since it doesn't give the effect I want. It's very light and doesn't really do much like volumize or lenghten your lashes. The liquid eyeliner on the other hand is actually good. It's long lasting and easy to apply.

Parisian Comfy flats. I wasn't supposed to buy flats but unfortunately today, my favorite pair of day heels which I was wearing to my job interview got soaked in flood and therefore fell apart. :( I couldn't bare walking in them anymore so when I got to the mall, I immediately went on to buy flats (which I also need, anyway).

Forever21 knit sweater tops which have been on my to-buy list for so long! I can't wait to wear them and I'm styling them ala-Rumi. Or the Olsen Twins.
I said that when I get my first paycheck, I would spend it on myself and my parents. True enough, 2/3 of it was spent on me today. Although I am almost broke, at least I went home happy :) more moolah coming in next week which I am excited to be earning (because dancing for money gives me (one of) the best satisfaction(s) in life!), then maybe I could go on and start with Christmas shopping.

Also by next week, one of my aunts is flying in from the US with more MAC makeup for me! I am a happy child. I'm finally replenishing my makeup kit. It still saddens me that my old one got stolen though. So much MAC and Chanel makeup--it's heartbreaking, really.

If you're wondering why I'm holding my camera that way... well it's because there's something wrong with the lock of my internal flash so I kind of have to hold it down so it wouldn't flash. Found a solution before the show though: tape! I have yet to have it fixed. It sucks how ALL of my cameras have some kind of dysfunction. :(
It's been months since I last covered for an event and since I wasn't a performer for this show, I grabbed the opportunity to go and be trigger-happy again. Here are some of my favorite shots of the night:

Started out with an attempt to copy someone from a 9gag (which I have yet to find again so I can make my meme!) which then turned into a photo/video cam whore session. Spent the entire day in Taft with Lenard (and Rond, later on). I seriously thought I was over my letting go issues but apparently I'm not--see, I still spend at least an entire day in Taft once a week. Funny how when people see me in Taft, the only thing they say to me is "bakit ka nandito?" (why are you here?)... can't let go of Taft that easy!

There's Something About Us Anyway

A rope braid's apparently much easier to do than a fishtail braid. Takes much less effort and time, too. Anyway, spent most of yesterday/night in school covering an event which I will blog about very soon.

The rest of the night I hung out with Rond and Lenard and I still continue to wonder why they're my friends (lol kidding). I was trying to beat Rond's high score on Paper Toss whilst screaming in a mix of frustration and rage, sort of. After a couple of rounds and almost draining Lenard's battery, I finally did (5 tosses in the bathroom level, bitches). It felt like such an achievement, hah. Also felt so badass (but not as much as two weeks ago) staying out late even when I had work the next day (aka today. A Sunday. For crying out loud.) although I really had a difficult time getting out of bed this morning. On the bright side, work wasn't so bad today.
On the way home a friend introduced me to this cover and I instantly fell in love with it. The saxophone sold it. Total eargasm, if you ask me.

It might not be the right time, I might not be the right one but there's something about us I want to say cause there's something about us anyway. ♥

Since it's still Thanksgiving in the US, I have no work later today! I finally get my weekend back, even for just a week. Tonight I will be partying the hell out of Friday--it's been a while since I last did so!

One of my 11/11/11 11:11 wishes was for me to enjoy my current job. Surprisingly, this week I actually did a bit. This week has been a pretty productive one for me at work, and I have been told by my trainer that it will get busier and harder for me starting next week. I don't know if I should be excited or if I should dread it. 50/50 perhaps. I've sent out my resumes to a couple of companies I actually see myself working in, though. My resignation from my current company pretty much depends on if the companies would call me and take me in by December. I'm crossing my fingers. I'd really kill for a job in a magazine!

I got a little bored at work today so I decided to sketch my outfit for tonight, despite my lack of drawing skills.

(not really a movie review! Just some shallow thoughts on the movie!)

I live for spontaneous days such as today. Since I started working, Mondays have been my free days, so I end up spending it in Taft where most of my friends are. Today I went freakishly early because I was supposed to run an errand but failed to do so no thanks to long lines and creepy-looking people. Stayed in school a bit until some random plan of watching Breaking Dawn came up. I must admit, it was a pretty good movie! Being a communication arts graduate, I tend to look at the technical side of media. Breaking Dawn did not disappoint! Direction, cinematography, dialogue--they were all pretty sick (in a good way). Is the movie R-18 (or at least 15) though? I could have sworn there was too much sexual content in it--not appropriate for kids at all! The first scene got me drooling, or maybe I'm just really a sucker for guys with abs. Having read the book, it was good to find that they were somehow faithful to it. I loved how this first part was done, I'm actually looking forward to part two!

My friends and I headed back to school right after just to chill (with our own cups of milk tea and rounds and rounds of Monopoly Deal). Also, I finally managed to get a manicure after two months! Crazy, I know. My nails are happy now :)

I basically spent my entire day in Taft and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Having been a Taft girl for the past three years, I guess I could also call it home. I actually miss studying already. Right now, I have one week of work to endure then it's most likely goodbye to my current company. I really can't force myself to stay if I'm not happy in it.

PS. a bottle of this for every single day in my life is what I need.

I am obsessed with Rumi. I am so jealous of her lifestyle, I wish mine would turn out just like hers in the near future. I am so inspired by her blog, all I need to do right now is take action (we'll see where this will take me, will let you guys in when I'm actually on my way).

What a lazy Sunday it has been. Been in bed all day, considering it's only the start of my weekend. What a bum. But then again I miss bumming around, no thanks to work. Work which I hate, by the way. I am resigning very soon. I can't seem to find myself confined in an office for much too long. Can't wait to find a job that would have me in the front line, or at least interact with other people. Being in an office for 9 hours a day 5 times a week having a stare off with a computer screen and freezing my ass off is just bs, not my thing. Don't even get me started with my working hours--it's just terribly awful.

Sent my resume around again but this time chose the companies carefully, not just for the sake of. Let's all hope they start calling me for interviews or whatnot. But for now, let me leave you guys with some amazing stuff I grabbed off Tumblr. I swear I love Tumblr... so much inspiration.

Can't wait to spend my first paycheck on make-up. I still can't believe I lost all my MAC, Sephora and Chanel make-up. I swear, whoever you are who stole my entire make-up kit, you should rot in hell! xx

I gotta love my weekends now, since they're the only days I'd get to do what I want, many thanks to work!

Turns out I didn't have to spend my 11/11/11 in bed like I imagined! I decided to risk it and party the night before a 6am shift in work. Needless to say I was on zombie mode the entire day after. I think it was all worth it, though. The party was fun, and I'm so proud that I didn't drink! Work the next morning was hell--who would have thought layouting tables was going to be so freaking complicated? Gauging from what I did that day, I don't think I'll be staying in the company for long. Gotta look for something else I'd rather do for a living. :)

After work I headed straight to Araneta for Skechers! CONGRATULATIONS, LSDC-STREET :) champions once again! I'm so proud of you guys, I can't believe you won ALL of your competitions this year! What a great year for you guys :) I'm happy to be part of the LSDC family.

After Skechers I headed to Tomas Morato for some yummy soup and cake for my best friend's birthday countdown! It was such an exhausting day for me (imagine being up for 27 hours straight! But I've actually done worse during my thesis days) I was so excited to go home to spend some quality time with my bed. :)

Oh and today's still a weekend for me, even if it's already Monday. Turns out I only get Sundays and Mondays off, and I work from Tuesday to Saturday. :( I'm gonna miss all my Friday nights out!

Anyway, expect more rants about work soon, I bet I'll have a whole lot more, lol. For now, let me share with you guys one of the songs I'm starting to get obsessed with! And it's by The Black Keys-again!

Better Run, Better Run, Outrun My Gun

My first three days at work felt like being back in school because all I have been doing is listening to my trainer, reading, taking down notes, and taking quizzes. Same thing would be done tomorrow and the day after. Turns out all my hands-on exercises would start next week, hmm. So for the past three days (besides doing what I've already mentioned awhile ago), I'd spend at least and hour or two going through random files stored in my desktop at the office. There were so much reading material on graphic design and I've been feeling so inspired! I hate that my job doesn't really include designing, though. :(

Two materials that really caught my fancy were Before&After Magazine and the Pantone Color Fashion Reports. I'm not even kidding when I say I've read all the PDF magazine files of both on my desktop! The former actually makes me wish I had waited for a designing job come my way. Mmm, maybe for my next job? Lol. It's only now that I realize I have found what I wanna do for a living. And the latter makes me want to pursue styling even more, even just as a side line! I've had styling gig offers recently which I had to turn down because work's in the way :(

Oh well. It's only been three days for me on the job anyway, I can't really gauge yet for how long I'm intending to stay! Let's see let's see. Maybe when I do some proper work I'd actually enjoy and not mind my (awful) working hours, lol. I hate not having a social life, okay. I am not me without it!!! :( it's literally gonna be work-home-work-home for me for the next few months :(

First Day Jitters

Ended up almost falling asleep at work today because I was running on only an hour of sleep. I dropped dead the moment I got home and finally got at least four more hours of rest!

So today was my first day at work and it wasn't all work-y for me! It actually felt like I was back at school since I'm still in my training phase. All I did today was get introduced to the company, the different software programs I will be using and stuff like that. I haven't even met my trainer yet since he wasn't around today. Perhaps tomorrow I would be doing more hands-on stuff. :)

Since we don't have a uniform for work, I'm free to wear whatever I want (hooray!). For my first day, I wanted to keep it on the down low and not go all out or something like I would usually do for school (hehe), so here's what I wore:

Opted for a sweater top because It's so cold in the office (which reminds me, gotta buy more sweater tops)! Jeans and flats well, to keep comfy :) we actually have a dress code which is very similar to that of DLSU's, so I got no problem. But... tomorrow is corporate attire day! Mmm, perhaps time to go all out fashion? What do you guys think? :)

Another early day tomorrow so gotta hit the sack now! I'm actually loving my shift for this week because my social life isn't entirely ruined yet, lol. Next week til the end of January though, I gotta say goodbye to my old ways :( afternoon-night shift WILL kill me :(

Is it just me or did October just go by so quickly? It was such an amazing month for me in all aspects, I'm actually not surprised.

I'm sorry I haven't been blogging lately. I was too busy bumming around, lol. But right now, I only have exactly 4 more days left to bum around because I have officially been employed! Yes, I'm a working girl now. :) I'm going to be working 9 hours a day on a shifting schedule (no, I won't be working in a call center) so I guess it's time to say "see you later!" to my social life (yes, that includes my social networks, I guess) :( on the bright side, I'm finally gonna earn some money and I could finally cross off some things on my "to buy" list which has been getting longer every single time I hit the mall!

It's sweater weather and I love it! Although I'm not a fan of the rain, I love love love the cold breeze it brings. :) November, please be amazing. That's all I ask of you!

Hello everyone! I'm back from Malaysia :-) I will blog about my trip soon, but first let me show you guys my new hair! I debuted (LOL) it in school yesterday during graduation rehearsals and I'm glad a lot of people thought it looked good on me! ♥

Yesterday was such an exhausting day. Claiming of academic attire and recognition rites in the morning, Baccalaureate Mass and class picture taking in the afternoon, then graduation rehearsals in the evening. I'm just glad to get yesterday over and done with!

Anyway right now I'm packing for a week-long trip to Malaysia! I'm leaving tomorrow morning. I, along with 7 other students under the Culture and Arts Office of DLSU, will be attending an arts festival there and we'll be representing the Philippines. I'm excited!

Expensive Semi-fail Saturdate

Last night I went on a date with one of my best friends, Michelle. Our initial plan was to head off to Greenbelt to watch No Other Woman then go to Mercato Centrale after. When we got to Greenbelt, the tickets were sold out :-( so instead, we decided to have dinner there then head on to Mercato for dessert. WRONG MOVE. We ended up spending so much more than what we were supposed to! It was my first time to spend more than 500 bucks on dinner for myself, okay :-( I felt so bad after. HAHA.

So we had dinner at National Sports Grill. I totally forgot to take photos of the food because I was really hungry. I purposely didn't eat beforehand to prepare myself for Mercato! I had some Karate Chops then Mich had some steak then we both had Sluggers, which was so good. I just really hated the part where we had to bill out, though. Hihi. It was as if we were spending our first salary, but we don't even have jobs yet!

Since Mercato opens at 10pm, I went hunting for my graduation dress first. My first and last stop was Topshop, hihi. Took me a while to decide on which dress to take--the blue one or the pink one--in the same design! Hihi. I will show you guys on graduation day. I'll keep it a secret for now ;p

When we got to Mercato, we realized it was a terrible idea to have dinner in Greenbelt. It felt like I had just wasted 500 bucks! So much food in Mercato! We ended up just going for dessert, though. Here's what I had!

1.) Mochiko cookie dough mochi ice cream (which I was not able to take a photo of coz I devoured its yumminess right away)

4.) Wintermelon (winterWATERmelon, according to Mich. HAHA) tea

Really good stuff, I tell ya. I'm definitely going back to that place but on an empty stomach! :-)

No electricity at home = spent most of the day sleeping, half of the afternoon and the whole night in Tomas Morato!

First up, Starbucks with mom. Then, my friend Inno said he'd be in Tomas as well so when he finally got here, I left my mom and went to him (Bubble Tea)! It's been a while since I last saw him so yeah :-) we're still together at the moment, with another friend, Issa. Word's out that we still have no power at home. Grar, I hate the weather. :-( the rain makes me feel all kinds of sad!

I Am Such A Bad Fashion Blogger

I have been a very bad fashion blogger (read: lazy to take outfit photos haha) that I turned my blog into a more personal one instead.

I find it funny how I tend to dress up for school more when I come from home, not from the condo (considering my condo was just a few steps away from the gates of school). Unfortunately though, I haven't been able to take photos of what I've been wearing to school (the few times I've been to school lately--for AUFA rehearsals) :-( I really suck at fashion blogging, okay. Even my lookbook and chictopia never get updated any more :-( but anyway here's just one addition!

Yesterday was family day at Greenbelt 5. Here's, well, what I wore:

My blockmate's polo which I have yet to return, jeans, Parisian heels, Impulse Co. Cambridge-inspired satchel (I stand corrected! Thank you, anon commenter)

Had John and Yoko for dinner.

And Gelatissimo for dessert! I had a cup of veronese chocolate and it was soooo good.

I've been living the bum life for a couple of weeks now and can I just say that it sucks! I feel so bored all day and I tend to binge a lot (I feel like I'm turning into a pig any time soon) :-( hayayay. The only activity I have right now are rehearsals for AUFA which happens like at least twice a week. On the bright side, I'm leaving for Malaysia next week and graduation's the week after that! :-)

HUENIVERSE -- check!

I'm feeling so emotional now that I'm done with my last concert as a member of the La Salle Dance Company - Contemporary! It was one hell of a show, I tell ya. Gaining so much positive feedback from the audience (I can't believe we actually had a full house on both shows! Happiness ♥) makes me so grateful to have been part of an amazing show.

LSDC-Contemporary has been my family in DLSU for the past 3 years and 1 term and I couldn't seem to think of anyone else I could have spent all those years with. I definitely grew as a dancer in this company. Self-growth, however, well some may attest to it, especially the company members, since I may have been labeled as the most 'evil' one in it hihi. Let's just say they've been trying to change my ways for years but have been failing to do so. I guess I just stick to my principle of 'living young wild and free' too well xD

Maybe I just really am the rebellious one in the family. ;-)

Going back to Hueniverse...

AHHH IT HAS BEEN THE BEST CONCERT YET! It feels so great to have been part of it, and if I could, I'd relive the night of September 16th over and over again! Performing on stage wholeheartedly as my gesture of gratitude to the dance company and to Sir Peter, of course--what a wonderful feeling.

I'm not even kidding when I say that my tears rolled down when the curtains came down after the finale! I've never felt so good after performing. So that was what tears of joy felt like. :-) I personally think it was the best show I have ever performed in, and it probably was also my best performance ever, yet.

Thank you, LSDC-Contemporary and sir Peter, for that wonderful experience. It will be something I will cherish in my heart forever (even if this year I didn't get to fly unlike last year HAHAHA).

I am already at loss for words--mostly because I really hate being the mushy type hihi. And I might end up crying again because I'm definitely going to miss LSDC-Contemporary! One last hurrah for me before I graduate--and that is Malaysia for AUFN in two weeks! (thank you, CAO, for giving me this opportunity before leaving DLSU xD)

A couple days ago, the rubber part of my Blackberry chipped off.

I honestly thought it couldn't be replaced anymore but I still tried my luck in Greenhills and whoopee, Greenhills saves! Got a new housing for just a thousand. I opted for something gold but the only available colors were purple, light purple, blue, red and black. I wanted to get the light purple one, but it's the same color as my C3 so I went for the darker one!

Aaaaand check out my new hard/jelly case! I think I'm done with the sparkly studs for now. But I'm definitely not over my orange/gold phase!

I found a matte gold housing online for just a little bit more than a thousand. Mmm, giving it much thought! I'll most likely get it next month, if I have enough money :-)

I realized that I haven't blogged about Eunice's party yet! Better late than never?

It happened at Kyss last August 13 and it was the second day of my epic weekend. I won't say much about the first day, but let me just say that I wasn't over my hangover from the first day yet when I got to Eunice's! Even before the debutante got to the venue, I was already buzzed. So imagine me for the rest of the night! It was really epic, I swear. It was a roller coaster of emotions, that night.

Last night, I missed out on Maja dear's 18th because I had no ride and it was pretty far from my house. So instead, I went straight to Heather's--totally underdressed! My friends and I didn't think that by "look presentable" she meant LOOK PRESENTABLE! It was a house party for chrissakes, but little did we know that her house was a mansion! LOL it was still a fun party, nevertheless. Unfortunately though, my party mood wasn't on last night so I went home early :-(

Hayayay. I am officially on break and when the term starts again in about a week and a half, all I'll be worrying about is Hueniverse and AUN. It will be a term full of dance dance dance! No more academics for me, hallelujah!

What to do for the rest of this long weekend? On Tuesday, training resumes, which I am not so stoked about, HAHA. But then again I have to start burning off all the calorie intake from finals week!

Anyway, gotta turn my eyes back on the television. DLSU vs. ADMU #nowwatching!!! ANIMO LA SALLE :-)

Au Revoir, College!

I am finally done with all my finals which means, goodbye college! Now all I have to do is wait for my grades to come out in about two weeks' time which I am about 95% sure of passing. I have never failed a course in my entire stay in DLSU, so I am pretty confident about now! I think I did well this term, anyway. And I kind of nailed my finals today. Last night's study time did pay off, thank God!

After my last report, I headed to the Rehearsal Hall where we all waited not so patiently for our Yellow Cab delivery. Thank you, Kim and XJ! I think I had about 8 slices -_- I'd like to think of it as a reward to myself for getting through college, hihi.

And I'm still bored. What to do tonight? I'm officially off academic duties, I'm so happy! Plus training resumes on Saturday! Time to work off all the pizza I had today! Tomorrow will be a day dedicated to errands and whatnot. I want to celebrate my freedom!!! And on Saturday, I will try something out in the morning (wish me luck!), training in the afternoon, then party at night!

Final Finals!

Today I decided to use my time for productivity and so far I have been successful! I have been studying here in Hollys Coffee since 3PM (it's currently 9PM) because I have an economics test and report tomorrow :-s I had my statistics test this morning and I kind of wasn't able to really study for it therefore I'm only sure about 1/3 of my answers. So to make up for this morning's mishap, I decided to dedicate my whole day today for academics!

Tomorrow will officially be my LAST DAY IN COLLEGE! I am so stoked, you have no idea. I really wish all my studying today would pay off tomorrow. And I pray really hard that I don't fail any of my courses this term or else my dreams of graduating in October will be crushed :-(

Would you guys help me pass at least one of my courses? Yes? If so, please like this page on Facebook! It's an advocacy to support the local entertainment industry (music, television, movies, radio, etc.) it would only take a few seconds of your time, so I hope you guys could manage to squeeze it in!

Cultura Awards

This year, the CAO Awards took form in a more formal system. It felt kind of Oscar-y since it was held in an auditorium and all, but honestly, I prefer the old system better. The first part of the awards night was kind of boring despite having intermission numbers by the groups (including us) and it was more of a bummer that we didn't win any of the group awards. But that's okay because 1) it's been about five to six years since our last nomination(s) so we're actually still very happy with our nominations in four categories and 2) our very own Assistant Company Manager/DM Productions, Reese Corpuz, won Most Dedicated Performer in Dance! :-)

The latter part of the night was very fun. It's great to be part of a big group again! I love how LSDC-Contemporary is big in number at the moment (and I really hope it stays that way--babies please don't quit!) :-D

HTG's Playfest 2k11

August 4, 2011 - I was lucky enough to be (sort of) invited by the Harlequin Theater Guild to document their Playfest. I've been asking them for a free ticket because I wanted to watch so bad and little did I know that my free ticket would be in the form of grabbing a camera and snapping photos of the show. I have no complaints at all! I think my photos from A Child of My Own (HTG's production last year) turned out pretty well, so I didn't hesitate to give this production a try.

Needless to say, I enjoyed a lot! I'm getting a hang of this events photography thing (hmmm, at least an option for something to do after October graduation!) :-)

Tonight I got to watch Sweet Charity for free! Since my dance coach is part of the cast, he got us four tickets to see the TDR (premiere is tomorrow and gala night is on the 5th). Unfortunately though only two of us (from LSDC) were available tonight. :-(

Since Mica and I got to the venue about an hour and a half earlier than show time, we decided to kill some time at La Creperie. I had some mango hazelnut au chocolate crepe which I thought was just a taste of heaven. :-)

Sweet Charity was such a cute show! I’m encouraging you guys (in Manila) to watch it. It will be running from August 5 to 27, 2011 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza. It’s definitely a must-see!

I'm not gonna spoil here. If you want to know the story, click on the link above. I'd just like to share that I particularly enjoyed the music and the dancing! And the cast was amazing. The chemistry between Nikki Gil and Kris Lawrence was nice and Ciara Sotto's accent was entertaining!

You guys have to go see it for yourselves. :-)

My Last Art in Action: Dance

Every term, the La Salle Dance Company (Contemporary and Street) in cooperation with the Physical Education department stages a show for DLSU students who are taking up HUMAART (art appreciation) and PE for the term. It's more of a lecture-performance than a dance concert, more like a "dancing for non-dancers" kind of thing.

And since I will be graduating in October, this term's Art in Action was my last. (*tear*) I remember the times when I'd do classical ballet for the show even if I already reek coz I haven't danced ballet in years! Thank God this year it got passed down to a newbie, someone who still takes up ballet at least. :-) for this Art in Action, we danced to Broken Strings and The Scientist, two of my absolute favorite pieces of LSDC-Contemporary.

Although we did not dance our usual folk dances for this term (because we invited another dance group to do it), I think it was still a pretty good show. The audience was very participative and I loved how they had a lot of questions to ask us for the open forum!

And of course we had to end the day with a bang... DLSU Planking by the La Salle Dance Company! I swear we were so amused. MASS PLANKING AT THE TYA! WOOTWOOT!

Getting Back on Track

My week has been pretty uneventful, but I'm happy to say that I'm finally going back to my old ways. My old happy ways. It's about time I really go out and have some fun again!

Anyway, let me make use of this rainy Sunday afternoon productively--study time. Boo, I know. But I still have a midterm exam coming tomorrow and a couple projects and papers due over the week. :-(

Party Weekend

I haven't gone out in a while and I'm glad I was finally able to this weekend! First was Fiamma last night, Friday. It was my first time to see Fiamma THAT PACKED! It was so wild, it took us forever to get in. And usually, no matter how many people go, the place is still cool but Friday night it was one huge sauna! Crazy, crazy. The whole craze brought the mood down so we didn't stay long. But on the up side, a whole lot of my friends were there as well--some of whom I haven't seen in quite some time :-)

After Fiamma we headed to Liquid Bar which has got to be one of the best bars I've been to. I didn't get to swim though because we hadn't initially planned to go!

All in all this weekend was pretty fun. The right amount of fun I needed after an awful week before. I so needed these night outs and I'm glad I had my friends to spend them with me :-)

When I think of you, I get sad. To get rid of the sadness, I think of happy thoughts. But then I realize my happy thoughts consist of you.

:-( I hate how it's so true. :-(

It seems like I have found my happy place. Whenever I feel down, I end up hitting Starbucks Tomas Morato for my alone time. Having had such a terrible week (despite vacationing in Palawan), I dragged my butt here to have my favorite cup of coffee and to just chill in the balcony area. :-)

I think I am liking this afternoon. Me in my happy place, sipping my favorite hot white chocolate mocha, loving the breezy Manila weather, with my earphones on playing my favorite feel-good tunes.

I pray that things get better soon.

June 16, 2011 -- the day that La Salle was such a happy, happy place! You can never deny how strong a Lasallian's Animo is. :-)

This day was absolute perfection. From breakfast, to being with the boy that has been making me extremely happy these past few days, to preparing for the show, to performing, to meeting the parents and roommates, to watching the fireworks, etc, etc. This day couldn't have been any better. :-)

My blog is two years old now!!! :-)

LSDC-Contemporary auditions this afternoon. I'm so excited! New members, finally! Although I would only have one term to spend with them :-( but on the bright side, I am graduating in October! I am so stoked! I can't wait to graduate, then maybe, just maybe, take my masters in France. Hopefully masters in fashion :-) searching for good programs now!

At the moment, I'm feeling like I want to take up an internship in the fashion industry here in the Philippines. Any suggestions, anyone? If you know contacts or open positions or something, please let me know through comment or email me (pixierixie@gmail.com)!

First Class

Recently purchased Forever21 headwrap and top, vintage crocheted vest, jeans, Swatch watch
My dad and I have this habit of catching big movies (especially when they're Marvel or DC) in the cinemas once they come out, so tonight we caught the last full show of X-Men: First Class and can I just say... BEST X-MEN EVER!!!!!!!!! It was such an amazing movie, I don't mind watching it in the cinemas again. I was surprised to find out that Nicholas Hoult and Lucas Till were part of it!

Since he picked me up from school just after my class, and the movie wasn't until 9:40pm, we had a lot of time to kill. Went carbo loading at Sbarro, then did a lot of window shopping (although I got him to buy me a headwrap and ties!--thanks dad).

Our next scheduled movie date: Green Lantern perhaps? Or whatever big movie's next!

By the way, please bear with ze webcam photos for today! I wasn't able to charge my camera's battery so I wasn't able to take any decent pictures. :-( last time I got to charge it was during my birthday, I think! Wasn't even able to bring it out the other day :-(

And speaking of the other day... I also finally got to watch Kung Fu Panda 2 last Tuesday night with a couple of friends! It was such a cute movie, way better than the first one! Makes me want to have my own baby panda :3 Tuesday night was filled with so much good vibrations (despite me being broke because my awesome possum friends had to drag me to Forever21, and knowing myself, I couldn't leave without purchasing anything!), just the right amount I needed after having such an awful week last week. :-)

I'm glad to tell you guys that I'm better now! Not entirely good or healed, but definitely much better than I was last week. :-)

Family dinners with my father's side of the family are always so scrumptious! Tonight, for our (my grandma, my mom and me's) birthdays, we had dinner in Yakimix in Podium which we spent a good 3 hours in! :)

Happy un-birthday to me!

To put a cherry on top of my awful birthday, I watched Pirates of the Caribbean 4... alone! Haven't watched a movie alone since Up :p and just like in Up, I actually cried, but this time, not because of the movie, but because of my dad! Through out the movie I was texting him and when he asked me "Why are you alone on your bday?" I couldn't help but cry. :( moving on...

I loved Pirates 4! Captain Jack Sparrow, you are forever awesome. Oh and I wanna be a mermaid! Very hot, but so vicious. Deceiving, I like it. :)

Back to school tomorrow. Great, I didn't even feel the summer swing by.

Today I turn 19!

For the first time, I didn't spend my birthday with my family. I had this spontaneous "birthday salubong" night with a couple friends over at the condo. Had fun with pizza and drinks.

I usually love my birthdays, but today was pretty awful. I mean, yeah, the salubong last night was pretty fun (despite the very unfortunate event that made me the most upset I've ever been in my entire life), but the rest of the day was blah. Spent my day in training (for a show tomorrow), setting up our recruitment booth, getting caught by DLSU's Discipline Officer because according to her my dress was too short (it's not my fault my arms and legs are long), and having coffee with my mom (probably the only fun thing I had today :D). Tonight, I'm going to brave the rain and strong wind and hit up Greenbelt to catch Pirates 4. I couldn't find a date, so I'm watching by myself. Even more blah.

So tonight, my dinner date with Brent finally pushed through! Such a fun night it was. Good times :)

We met up in Taft, then headed to Teriyaki Boy in Harbor Square. When we were seated, the first thing that caught my attention were these Genmai Cha Twisters that reminded me of Happy Lemon (cocoa with rocksalt and cheese is HEAVEN) so I had to try them out. I ordered the Chocolate Gemnai Cha with Cream Cheese which unfortunately was quite a disappointment. :(

My order came in late, so Brent and I had a lot of time to chat before actually eating. It's been a while since the last time we had dinner (I think the last was Omakase in December 2009?)! Well that's most probably because we had a fight some time last year and just got around to being friends again early this year, teehee. Glad we did, though, 'cause tonight, we actually realized how awesome and important our friendship is. See, we used to be best friends. And he was and perhaps will forever be my brother :-)

Five more days left til I turn nineteen and I haven't ticked off all the boxes in my "things to do while I'm 18" list. :( AND six more days left in my summer vacation and I've only achieved one of my goals! I haven't even been to the beach yet :( all I have done this summer was just to dance, sleep, bum out in Starbucks (which I am doing right now), play DoTA (which I have unforgivably succumbed to) and Left4Dead2 and do a lot (A LOT I TELL YA) of thinking.

Hopefully my dinner date with a friend tonight would push through. I need some decent dinner for once! Haven't had one in a while (the ~~perks~~ of living alone in the condo for the summer without groceries) :(

Oh and the Manila heat is KILLING ME. Heat rashes on my legs, not good. :(

This is such a sad post. Much more interesting posts coming soon, I hope. My life has been pretty uneventful.

I'm so sorry for being so negligent of my blog! For the longest time, I haven't really been in the mood to blog anywhere but Tumblr ;p follow me if you're on Tumblr, too? :)

So what have I been up to all summer? LPEP 2k11! For those who don't know, LPEP is the freshman orientation for incoming Lasallians. Every year, the Culture and Arts Office prepares a show to introduce the different arts organizations to the freshmen. This year, instead of the usual 2-day performance per college LPEP (which totals to a 10-day performance), we were only asked to perform for one day (so, 5 shows total!). Although this year's LPEP wasn't as memorable as last year's, it was still fun :)

Goodbye, third term of junior year and hello summer!

I've finally earned my degree in Communication Arts. :) earlier this week, my partner and I got to defend our thesis and all that's left to do is to submit our post-defense requirements (which I shall be doing tomorrow) then we're officially done! Goodbye, Comm Arts! Such a great feeling :) I still have one more term before graduating, though.

On the bright side... it's summer bitchezzzz! After four months, I finally went back to dancing. So incoming freshmen in DLSU, watch out for me as I perform with LSDC-Contemporary during your LPEP in May. :) feels so good to be back! I'm finally gonna get back in shape. Summer 2010 body, please come back to mama? :) on another note, I might not be able to hit the beach this summer, what a bummer :( but we'll see. Maybe spontaneity would work its way for me :D

To start my summer with a bang, I partied with some friends at Fiamma last Friday night. Saw so many familiar faces! And it felt good to finally get to party again after quite some time :) and since I got all my grades and I think I did pretty well for the term, I thought it would be nice to celebrate! Ang Sarili Kong Anak

Ever since I volunteered to help out in Harlequin Theater Guild's Haunted Hall in February, I've been treated as an (unofficial) adopted member of the guild--despite me being part of a different group under the same office (La Salle Dance Company Contemporary). I was able to help man their booth (actually, I was just there to hang out hihihi shhhhh), attend their parties, watch their rehearsals and even choreograph for one of their productions! I guess that was the best part :) being adopted didn't technically give me the privilege to watch their shows for free, because I have been given that benefit already in May 2010, when I became an officer for my organization. But instead, I was given the privilege to cover Ang Sarili Kong Anak. :)

I believe that I've always had a knack for covering events, especially dance events. I wanted to try something different this time and cover a theater production. Ang Sarili Kong Anak was a little hard to cover because I had to move around to get the right angles because of the theater-in-a-round set up. Nevertheless, I had fun covering this production and I'm glad I was able to produce profile picture-worthy photos for the actors, hihi. I guess I did good for a first timer. :)

The photos below were taken during the first (March 24) and last (March 26) runs of Ang Sarili Kong Anak. You can find some more photos on my Facebook. :)

Ang Sarili Kong Anak is the Filipino version of the play A Child Of My Own (also done alternately by the Harlequin Theater Guild; only with a different set of cast on the same play dates [March 23, 24, 25 and 26, 2011]) written by Hagit Nikolayevski and directed by Raffy Tejada. Members of the cast include Ms. Onyl Tecson (w/ alternate Joan Bugcat), Zoe Delos Santos (w/ alternate Antonette Go), Charisse Ang, Mary Juanne Pintado, Rosedelle Ann Etrata, Benedict Manaois (w/ alternate Ruffy Dy Buco), Hannah Al-sinawi (w/ alternate Hannah Sangalang) and Troy Lewis Driver (w/ alternate Albert Millar).

The play tells the story of a group of women—different from one another in terms of civil status, careers, age, personal circumstances—but united in a single-minded pursuit of motherhood and coping with its challenges.

While motherhood—and wifehood and the search for intimacy—are common concerns of women around the world, it gains poignancy in Israel where young men joining mandatory military service are enjoined to donate their sperm in a sperm bank to ensure their lineage continues even after their death. This is because life in Israel, and not just in the military, is precarious, and uncertainty is something everyone must live with.

It's been a while

I'm sorry if I've currently been very neglectful of this blog. I haven't had the time to take outfit photos, or even really dress up for that matter. I've been very busy with my thesis and practicum recently and in a matter of a few days, it'll all be over and I'll finally be welcoming summer! I can't wait. :)

Things haven't really been eventful for me this past month. I've just been living the typical city (Taft) life. It's so sad that I haven't even gotten the chance to watch a movie in the cinemas! It's been months :( the last time I did was in December, imagine that!!! I've been very busy that the only times I've had for my social life were in drinking places that are near my condo in Taft.

Probably the only highlights of the previous month are Harlequin Theater Guild's Ang Sarili Kong Anak (which I shall be blogging about right after this) and my practicum at Myx.

I'll be defending my thesis on Monday, so wish me luck guys! After that I just need to submit my post-thesis requirements then I wave goodbye to my junior year in college and hello to summer! Just a little bit more!!!

I've Lived My Life As A Ghost

Last week was DLSU's University Week.
Last week, I lived my life as a ghost at Harlequin Theatre Guild's Haunted Hall 2. :)

I'd have to say it was one of the best experiences I've ever had! I enjoyed helping out HTG and I'm glad they allowed me to :) it was hilarious watching people go through the hall screaming their hearts out for fear ;p there were times when I had to drop my character because I couldn't contain my laughter! All the curses from the audience, bruises and scratches were definitely worth it. :)

The last day would have to be my favorite. There were too many 'ghosts' inside the hall so I decided to walk around school for publicity instead. It was extremely hard to stay in character especially when your friends call and talk to you!!! But I think I was able to manage pretty well. ;p and I felt like such a celebrity! Oh and btw, have I mentioned that in the Haunted Hall, we actors weren't the only ones scaring the audience? Hmmmm. Yes we've had our own share of paranormal activities in the HH! Went on an Intramuros adventure with Michelle yesterday afternoon to shoot our travel segment for one of our (most hassle) majors. Funny how the people there (kutseros, pedicab drivers) kept on talking to us in English thinking we were tourists! :) maybe it was my hair color and that both of us were donning cameras while walking around ;)

While walking around looking for locations to shoot videos, I grabbed the opportunity to take my first photo walk! I wasn't able to take much though :( I'd definitely go on more photo walks in the future :)

PS. going back there on Friday for the pay-day buffet dinner at Bistro Marinero! Who wants to come with? :)

Hey guys! Sorry about the lack of updates :( I haven't been taking any photos recently hence no blog posts :( my life has been pretty eventful this month, though! Pretty busy academics-wise but I still managed to sneak in some fun in between. I also just had my retreat the other day and unexpectedly, I thought it was insightful! I think January 2011 went pretty well for me. Such a good way to start the year. :)
